We are working to improve sustainability and to keep our impact on the environment to a minimum, while ensuring that our quality standards are kept high and your stay is as pleasant and relaxing as possible. We would like to share our aims with you and hope that you will also help.
We have looked into the environmental impacts of our business and where necessary we have made changes so that:
Sustainability & Food Provenance: The majority of all food is locally sourced or fair trade brands are used, i.e. for tea and coffee. We use minimum packaging e.g. butter and jam pots in the breakfast room and cereal dispensers rather than packaged cereals. Also we use refillable shower gel and lotion bottles in the guest rooms.
Heating and Hot water: We use a modern fuel efficient boiler and we have improved loft space insulation. We have considered reduced spray shower heads but the number of positive comments we have received on the quality of the showers has convinced us that after a hard days walking a good strong shower is a must!
Lighting: Low wattage LEDs lights have now been fitted in all the rooms
Electricity: We get our electricity from a renewable source supplier, we have installed low energy appliances and try to minimize energy use e.g. providing smaller (0.8 litre capacity) kettles in the guest rooms.
We ask guests to keep the same bed linen for their stay, but if staying longer than 4 days and you wish a change of bedding please let us know. We also ask guests to keep the same towels for short stays but if new towels are required please leave them in the shower tray.
Waste recycling: Paper, bottles, cans, cartons etc are all recycled.
Compliance: We are fully compliant with environmental legislation.
