A converted barn providing four star Bed and Breakfast accommodation in Middleton in Teesdale, Barnard Castle, County Durham. This B&B has been renovated to a very high standard and your host, Lynda Bares, aims to make your stay as pleasant and relaxing as possible with a friendly atmosphere, comfortable rooms and good home cooked food.
The Old Barn is located next to the Tourist Information Office in this charming Durham Dales village. It was originally built in the early 1800s and recently converted with great care to provide a homely feel with farmhouse style decor. We have made sure the bedrooms are really comfortable with pocket sprung mattresses and goose down/feather duvets. We have three bedrooms, two double rooms and one twin room, all with en suite facilities. There is a small patio and some private off road parking to the rear of the property.
This is an ideal base to explore Tessdale with it's outstanding waterfalls, natural beauty and wildlife away from the crowds. Either touring, walking, cycling or doing other outdoor activities here in the North Pennines, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
We particularly cater for walkers and cyclists. We are situated only 300 metres from the Pennine Way, Waingwrigtht's Pennine Journey and the Teesdale Way. Lifts to and from walk starts can be arranged as far as Tan Hill, Bowes, Langden Beck, Dufton or Garrigill so you can stay in one place but still walk the most beautiful part of the Pennine Way. We have clothes drying facilities in our drying room, provide a laundry service and can provide packed lunches upon request. Secure storage is also available for cyclists. The Old Barn is within easy access of many other areas of interest including Durham City, Hadrian's Wall, Northumberland and the Lake District.
If you want to keep in touch while staying here, free Wi-Fi access is available. All rooms have Flatscreen TVs with all freeview channels. Guests from overseas are also very welcome and German and Spanish are spoken.
